FlickerMill Candles was born by Olivia and Eric from hope, resilience and embracing life’s imperfections.  

Eric is a retired firefighter. Olivia is a retired professional dancer and actress. In 2013, Olivia founded a non-profit organization to help first responders and members of the military process stress & build resilienec. It was through this work that Olivia and Eric first met.  Now they work together in service to first responders throughout the country.

While continuing their work helping first responders and military, they very much wish to expand their family. Two years of trying to conceive has been at the hands of a reproductive endocrinologist and ongoing fertility treatment. At the time this is being written, Olivia and Eric have been through 3 egg retrievals, 2 polypectomies, cancelled cycles, countless tests including hysteroscopies and an ERA, 2 embryo transfers, one pregnancy followed by a miscarriage.

Fertility treatment is cruelly expensive. As if the mental, emotional and physical aspects aren’t troubling enough, the massive debt to simply attempt a pregnancy is excruciating. When the attempt fails, the pressure mounts.

Olivia and Eric have turned to their practices of yoga, stoicism and spirituality to endure this difficult journey. Creativity and working with their hands also became a method for healing, which in turn sparked the idea for FlickerMill Candles. 

Creating each FlickerMill candle, from brainstorming candle names to hand-pouring wax, provides therapeutic practices in patience and gratitude. It is their wish that each candle will provide not only warmth to your home, but also a “flicker of hope” during life’s challenges.
